Not sure what you were trying to achieve, but I don't like it technically. The blown-out highlight together with the extremely over-processed nature of the noise is distracting. I also can't make out the subject matter?

The overall "look" successfully looks like an interesting old photograph, but I think it'd work better with better subject matter and better exposure. And a tad less noise.

I think you're right really... this is not such a good example of what I was doing...just one of them which came out in focus.

What I was working on here, was having the lens not actually on the body of the camera. I was using a 135mm Pentax lens (would be larger though due to multiplication factor of digital CCDs) which naturally wouldn't fit the mount of my canon.

Additionally, I went a bit overboard with post working the RAW file which explains the odd nature of the light dark and noise.

The actual subject matter here is the bottom of a vase and a clay pomegranate. The full view is on the other one, [link] . Like in this one, the lens is not actually on the body so I got a different focus, and possible it is that the RAW was over-processed.

I'll keep this in mind when I try this sort of thing again.
