Maybe have like a big board covered in aluminum paper, and put in in a way to reflect the light on the shadow of the object? I'd also turn up the aperture, it needs a greater focus (if you want to keep the small aperture, get closer and have bokeh on it)

A reflector would be useful methinks - if not for general lightening, but also as a flash reflector. Your suggestion is to remove the shadow, or just lighten it up a bit? The shadow was one thing I liked about it - the tints of red and the dark blues in it as well. But yeah, focus leaves something to be desired, and a more stable position might've been useful too so I could take the ISO down a notch

I didn't use a tripod in this case; hence the high ISO and shutter so it wouldn't blur our
